Child & Adolescent Assessments

We offer diagnostic assessments to answer specific referral questions, address your presenting concerns and your young persons’ goals and individual support needs. Depending on the complexity of the referral, 1-3 assessments appointments face-to-face may be required.

Assessments with young people typically include a 1-hour initial consultation, 1 to 3 sessions of standardized testing, and a 1-hour feedback consultation. Initial consultation and feedback are typically completed via telehealth and testing/observation sessions in clinic.

We offer diagnostic assessments for children and adolescents for referral of:

  • Autism (4+ years)
  • ADHD (5+ years)
  • Learning differences (e.g. Specific Learning disorders, dyslexia, dyscalculia etc)
  • Cognitive functioning (i.e. low cognitive ability, high IQ potential; 4+ years)
  • Accelerated Learning / Giftedness Assessments (4+ years)
  • Developmental Assessments (3.5+ years), including School Readiness
  • Adaptive functioning / Comprehensive Needs
  • Social or emotional functioning

How We Work

Initial Consult

A 1-hour initial consultation conducted via Telehealth. This it to allow you the opportunity to confidentially discuss your concerns for your young person, their strengths and for us to gain a thorough insight into your presenting concerns. During this consultation we will collaboratively discuss the next steps most appropriate to your presenting concerns. Initial appointment involves parents and legal guardians only.

Assessment Period

Psychometric assessments to be completed will be provided to give us insight into your young persons’ individual traits. Some of these questionnaires will be for yourself or your young person to complete and others may be for educators or teaching staff to complete.

There will also be 1-3 assessment appointments for observations and standardized testing with your young person.

Feedback

This typically occurs approximately 3-4 weeks post assessment period (i.e. last assessment session and receipt of psychometrics and supplementary information). This consult involves us providing you with your assessment results and diagnostic report. We will discuss outcomes from the assessment, recommendations moving forward, and opportunity will be provided for you to ask any questions.
